The latest restaurant/bar to hit the Toronto scene is, “Weslodge,” located at 480 King St. West, a short distance west of Spadina. Located on the ground-floor level of one of the new condos, its enormous yellow door hits the eye as forcefully as does its modern interior, which attempts to relocate the atmosphere of a “chic saloon.” This may seem a contradiction of terms, but animal heads and stuffed birds decorate the walls of this ultra-chic establishment. The restaurant offers its own bottled water (both sparkling and regular) at a price of $2.50 per person, for an unlimited supply. The appetizers are creative and although some of the combinations appear strange, they are delicious. Entrees are filling and the presentation excellent. The service is friendly and efficient.
A few other facts that are interesting. The washrooms are elegant and are unisex. The sinks in them are laundry tubs. The owners are opening another restaurant in the brick-lined laneway beside “Weslodge.”

My interest in this restaurant is partly generated by it being in my neighbourhood. However, because I place posts on my blog about the historic buildings in this area, I find it interesting to see new establishments open, blending the new with the old.
I have spent much of my adult life researching Toronto. Despite the traffic jams and daily congestion, I find Toronto an exciting and vibrant city in which to live.
